Skala Maries
Skala MariesΒ – don’t be surprised if you hear it also referred as Skala Marion- started, like many other Greek attractions, as a very small fishermen village.
Even with more houses and people passing through it still is an authentic fishermen village: you may still see local fishermen delivering freshly caught fish to the tavern owners.Β
It is located in the south-western part of the island, and is known for having the best sunset views. It features taverns with traditional Greek food (check the sections below for some of our recommendations),Β 3 beaches and local shops with honey and olive oil.
A fun fact is (no joking) that many times when in other parts of the island is raining, here the skies are still clear. You may ask a local how the winds and the position make this happen.
